Apple macOS Big Sur 11.3 Beta already supports dual HomePod stereo combinations
Gadget Pixels 3 February News Apple released the first MacOS Big Sur 11.3 beta development preview version last night. Including bug fixes and some functional improvements. Supports the latest gamepad, and has also made major updates to the Safari browser.
According to foreign media 9to5Mac, macOS Big Sur 11.3 Beta already supports dual HomePod stereo combinations, and a pair of stereo pair HomePods can be set as the default audio output.

In the current version of MacOS, HomePod is set as a stereo combination. Which can be used in “music” software or for airplay playback. But you have to manually select them in the AirPlay interface.
But in MacOS Big Sur 11.3 beta, HomePod’s stereo combination can be displayed as an option in the sound output list. Instead of listing each HomePod separately as before. After the user selects this output option, the Dual HomePod will play audio in stereo mode by default.
Gadget Pixels understands that the facility is currently in the testing phase and needs to improve the experience. For example, audio can already be played through the Home HomePod stereo combination. But system notification sound effects are still played on Mac computers.
