When I opened the Huawei Matebook E, I was also surprised. Whether the courier was sent wrong, is it not Matepad Pro 12.6? Why is MateBook written on the box? I wasn’t sure it was a 2-in-1 laptop until the Windows 11 icon came along. Certainly, the MateBook E is the closest PC the author has ever made to a tablet, and unlike the traditional two-in-one, it doesn’t have its own stand. It only has one Thunderbolt 4 connector, and weighs only 709g, and in a body this small, it’s actually an 11th-generation Core i7 processor.
Gadget Pixel has already received the i7-1160G7-16-512G version of the Huawei MateBook E. As shown in the picture below. After a period of experience, it is now for everyone to bring this product to the first feeling.

Take a look at the body on both the front and sides, and the MateBook E looks very similar to the Matepad Pro 12.6. Its three-ring measures approximately 184.7 x 286.5 x 7.99mm and weighs around 709g. It’s hard to believe that such a slim body is stuffed into a perfect computer.
On the front is a 12.6-inch, 2560 x 1600 resolution, 240PPI OLED screen, with a pretty high 90% screen share. The four-way width also makes the view all the more impressive. This is the first time Huawei has used an OLED screen on a Windows PC. Colors that are accurate, bright and uniform, and highly contrast-friendly for creative designers. That’s why the MateBook E is colorful, accurate and highly contrasting.
With our color proofer, it can achieve 100% sRGB, 98.7% Adobe RGB, and 99.9% DCI P3 color gamut coverage. Performs great, has a full color overlay and no oversaturation, and has a great screen for professional-grade drawings.
The measured average color deviation value is 0.18, the maximum color deviation value is only 0.91, absolutely accurate.
Apart from this, the Matebook E is also very careful when it comes to eye protection. In hardware, this screen is also the first approved authority of a tripartite body. The software can be turned on German Rhine TV Full-Care Display certified Huawei laptop screen. In computer tube home eye protection mode, reduce blue light damage. For the PWM dimming problem you’re worried about. After the author’s actual test, above 50% brightness has class DC dimming, can be used with confidence.
Of course, OLED screens also have their inherent disadvantages. that they can burn the screen. To slow down this process as much as possible, it is recommended to reduce screen time and turn on the hidden taskbar feature.
In addition, there is an 8-megapixel HD camera with status indicator at the top of the screen. Which is quite suitable for video calling compared to the 1-5 megapixel camera used in most notebooks. To improve call quality, Huawei has also developed AI noise-canceling voice enhancement technology. Which can place multiple microphones in the fuselage, real-time detection of vocal and interference noise, and reduce ambient noise, extracting pure voice distribution to each. others, and make communication more efficient. The back is three coated three-baked, fiberglass material, more easily contaminated are fingerprints and not easy to clean. The top right corner houses a 13-megapixel camera and even a flash for recording meetings.
The side borders are no smaller than that of ordinary plates. Its screen and border are made up of more pronounced pores. In which the windshield, the windshield and four speakers are found. The four speakers have a symmetrical layout of two left and two right, and are professionally tuned by Huawei Sound. Due to which the sound field is wider. In which there is a layered sense of tone and direction. It is optimized for scenes like music, movies, games and calls.
There is a power fingerprint two-in-one button and a 3.5mm headphone hole on the left. there is and only one thunderbolt 4 connector on the right, which means there is no interface if charging is required.

So is there any solution? Huawei has released a peripheral called the “Smooth Keyboard” that expands a 65W Type-C charging port and NFC sensing area. Unfortunately, we didn’t receive the smooth keyboard, only a smart magnetic suction keyboard. Huawei’s smart magnetic suction keyboard is more like a leather case, weighing just 440g. The back of the MateBook E can be protected with the A-side when carrying it out of the country, expanded and folded to provide stageless angle support between 110 and 160 degrees via the hinge to maximize the user’s needs in different usage scenarios such as document editing, audio-visual entertainment, and stylus writing.
Although it is very thin, but the hand is very surprisingly good. Its key range of up to 1.3 mm, the key area is also relatively large. The light and slim feel of operation and the typical 14-inch are very similar, and there’s a unique voice button in the middle of the keyboard. The specific role of this key we will talk about later. At the same time, an area of up to 56mm x 113.mm trackpad is also available under the keyboard. Plastic touch close to matte, feel good. An NFC chip is hidden under the touchpad, and Huawei’s phone can transfer files and multi-screen collaboration with a single swipe.
Apart from the keyboard, the Huawei MateBook E also offers support for Huawei’s M-Pencil second generation stylus. Which can be connected and charged by magnetically adsorbed in the upper right corner. Power is raised to display and automatically connected. That makes the experience natural. Without power, you can get 10 minutes of wireless fast charging for 30 seconds, 60 minutes for a full charge, and about 10 hours for a full charge for a full day.
Huawei MateBook E Features
Huawei’s PCs have always been very special, and they are one of those few in the industry. Which can deeply connect Windows PC with Huawei’s other eco-products. When connecting your phone, you can enable multi-screen collaboration. One-click can turn on Hotspot. You can back up your phone albums and videos. Enable mirroring, extension, sharing, view tablet files while tablet is connected. Can enable mirroring and extension modes when connecting a monitor. Query the rest of the toner, select file printing, copy, scan, and the above ecological interconnection is based on wireless, senseless, seamless experience.
Most famous is traditional art can do multi-screen collaboration. Only need to touch NFC sensing area with Huawei mobile phone. File per collaboration can achieve touch and multi-screen. You can then operate the phone on your computer with very low latency, high stability, and you can have two windows open at the same time. Can greatly improve the efficiency of the office.
When you open a file or picture, you can stream the file to the MateBook with one touch. Which is fast, elegant, and greatly improves office efficiency. When connected to a tablet, you can turn your tablet into a wireless side screen. Can easily copy/extend Windows’ interface, and greatly improve productivity. In addition to the flat-panel wireless connection, the MateBook E can also be connected wirelessly to Huawei’s Mateview display for a more stable, larger-screen connection. Which is comfortable to use at work.
As mentioned earlier, the MateBook E keyboard has a unique voice button in the middle, just press AI can call up the voice window. It can receive real-time Chinese, Japanese and Korean AI subtitles. Watching videos in the office is not something to be ashamed of. If you are watching foreign language videos or cross border conferences. So you can feel the real-time translation of China, UK, Japan and South Korea as well. Watching a foreign language video is not subject to words.
It also enables voice input in multiple languages. Which is beneficial for business people and word workers. These AI voice features have been well received on Huawei phones, and now Huawei is taking them to computers for free.
Similarly, we tested the simultaneous opening of IT House, Most Purchases and Cloud Calendar, although only 4 core 8 threads, but the overall operation to open the app is relatively smooth. Because the GPU is not optimized yet. Therefore the dynamic effect will be more caton, but as long as the picture does not contain a lot of dynamic elements. Till then overall or follow, if you don’t play the game, take it instead of android tablet. The feasibility is very high.
As mentioned earlier, the MateBook E supports the second generation M-Pencil stylus, and also offers handset support at the Windows 11 system level. So it’s a great experience in the commonly used OneNote, Drawboard PDF, LiquidText and Affinity Designer.
However, the M-Pencil pen does not have a single button. But it is actually a hidden sensor in the pen. With just two taps, shortcuts like screenshots can be created, which is quite practical.
IT house’s MateBook E is powered by the 11th generation low-voltage Core i7-1160G7 processor. Featuring 10nm superfine process, 4 cores 8 threads, main frequency up to 2.1 Ghz, and single-core turbo up to 4.4GHz, making it a single-core processor. ,
With a TDP of 15W, can the MateBook E’s smaller body plate hold up? Let’s try single roasting FPU with AIDA64, which can get around 20W of power at the start of single roast. But quickly hits the wall at temperatures at 77C and gradually decreases to 12W 63C. which is understandable. Thanks to graphene thermal conductivity and the shark fin fan, there is little noise even at maximum pressure.
The MateBook E is equipped with 3733MHz on-board LPDDR4X memory. Which unfortunately is not at 4266MHz. But it’s performance has been pretty good, very close to the MateBook 13s we’ve tested earlier.
The hard drive of the MateBook E is on-board and the model number is not yet known. But the transmission speed is good enough to reach the level of medium sized Nvme hard drives. Which provides reliable protection for smooth everyday use. Of course, outside of work, there is no problem if you need to play “League of Heroes”, “CS: GO” and other light games. League of Heroes plays smoothly at about 88 frames at the highest resolution of 1920 x 1200.
Lastly, we tested its battery life. We went to 50% brightness and power saving mode. Continued running with PCMark8 until it was turned off, and it finally ran for 3 hours and 19 minutes. Which was fine considering the size.
In the previous use of the first generation of MatePad Pro, the author often with the cloud computer app use, because EMUI typing is OK, like the author all day need to deal with graphic video or use Windows. That’s when I thought, if only I could brush the MatePad into a Windows system.
There are some similar positioning of Windows tablets on the market, but if you want to be thin, you can only buy some of the weak performance of the “zhai board”, if you want to experience, but inevitably will bring about a decline in portability. Huawei’s MateBook E is a product that trades off between lightness and experience. If you’re a professional who needs frequent business trips, business negotiations, and video conferencing, Huawei MateBook E is a great helper to reduce your burden.
