Positioning
The main sales today fall on the models of the middle price segment, devices that look interesting in terms of price / quality ratio. In recent years, such models have matured and become very interesting, they do not have special flaws, they get a good set of cameras, performance, which is enough for the eyes.
The same A-series from Samsung shows record sales, and all thanks to the correct positioning and cost. For realme, it is important to be present in the most massive segment, as it not only gives sales, but increases the popularity of the brand. And then the company took a very unusual step, it took its flagship realme GT and simplified it a little.
And if other companies simplify the flagships so that the resulting models of the middle segment do not compete with them, then in realme they went from the opposite. The company’s flagship is needed for prestige, but the main sales are planned to be made at the expense of the GT Master Edition in the middle segment.
Therefore, in this model left exactly the same screen, almost the same battery and fast charging, the same set of cameras (he, by the way, in the flagship looks weak, but here is very appropriate). Simplified the processor, but it’s still a model with excellent performance.
The previously tried approach, when the device is available in several variations, there is a model with a leather back, here also found its application. And I like it, on the review it is this model, it looks unusual in relation to most modern smartphones, has some, but its own face. It may or may not like it, but realme stands out, and by today’s standards it’s a huge achievement.
Let’s take a close look at this device to understand why I say that it has a great price/quality ratio, unlike the flagship GT.
Design, dimensions, positioning
The model is available in two versions: with a back made of glass, and the usual look for hundreds of models, as well as with a back made of eco-leather, this is a gray model. Look at the models with a glass backrest.
Ordinary, not standing out. The device with a design from Naoto Fukasawa (Naoto Fukasawa) has a ribbed surface, according to the creator, this look he was inspired by the history of travel, he wanted to create a smartphone resembling luggage that we collect when we go somewhere. In a word, the suitcase mood transmitted in the smartphone.
As in the older model, eco-leather is used, it is not covered with scratches, does not salt. For those who want to protect the device, the kit has a case in the color of the case.
The size of the device gray is slightly larger, but the difference is almost not felt. It fits well in the hand, the ergonomics are pleasant.
If you look at the front surface, you will see a worn, washed protective film. A generic problem for all realmes, this film quickly falls into disrepair.
On the back you see an insert of glass around the camera block, it is quite pleasant.
The controls are arranged as follows: On the left side there is a volume key, there is also a tray for two nanoSIM cards (the device does not support eSIM). On the right side there is an on/off key.
On the lower end you can see the USB Type C connector, the 3.5 mm connector, then the microphone and speaker, the second microphone was carried to the upper end. The top speaker is on the front panel above the screen. Stereo in this model is not implemented, only one speaker works on the lower end, which is noticeable when watching movies or in games.

The fingerprint sensor is built into the screen, works quickly and without complaints. But I prefer face unlocking, I use it.
On the build quality of the device there are no complaints, everything is at the level, there is nothing to complain about.
Display
I will briefly list the technical characteristics: 6.43 inches, 2400×1080 pixels (Full HD+), Super AMOLED, refresh rate 120 Hz, sample rate of the touch layer 360 Hz, ratio 20:9, pixel density 409 ppi, color gamut 100% DCI-P3, peak brightness 1000 nits, AlwaysOn Display.
In the settings, you can turn on the frequency of 120 Hz always, or you can set the switch on in automatic mode, the second is preferable, since it will be noticeably less battery power consumed.
I like the AoD feature, the screensavers and watch options are good. But if the device lies motionless for some time, the screen goes out. I also note the low brightness in this mode, it is clearly not enough.
In the settings there is DC Dimming, the flicker of the screen decreases, but the color reproduction suffers, then you need to choose one thing. The device uses a separate engine to make photos and videos on the screen look brighter, its work is noticeable in the video.
I can’t say that the screen corresponds to the flagships from Samsung or Apple, where also displays from Samsung. But for its price range, the screen is great, it has everything you need for life.
To adjust the brightness of the backlight, two RGB sensors are used (as in flagships), the brightness is adjustable by 4096 steps. Which, in my opinion, is definitely superfluous, and this is rather a figure for displaying technical capabilities, in life you will never see such a step of changing the brightness.
In the sun, peak brightness can reach 1000 nits, the screen remains readable, everything is fine. But the film, of course, interferes, and it is worth removing.
I like the display in this model, there is a little more than you usually find in the devices of this price.
Accumulator
Realme standardizes components, so the battery in most devices is the same – 4500 mAh (here it was declared as 4300 mAh). The dart charge is 65 W in the kit, in fifteen minutes you will get 50% of the charge, and in 33 minutes – all hundred. Tested, in practice it works.
Minus the model that I encountered by accident. I left the device at home and went on vacation for a week, and when I returned, the standard charge flashed for the first ten minutes and refused to charge the device. I had to “light up” it from the usual charging of another manufacturer (not so fast), and everything happened. Then he put his own, and life got better. A small but annoying glitch.
Speaking about the autonomy of the smartphone, if you take the average indicators of mixed use without games and “heavy” software, then it is quite possible to get a day and a half of work with 6-7 hours of screen operation, if you slightly reduce the brightness and do not use wireless protocols, then you can get to the end of the second day of work from the outlet. The situation is already familiar, the indicators are adequate.
Memory, chipset, performance
The device is available in Russia in two versions – 6/128 GB and 8/256 GB (UFS 3.1). Memory is fast, both RAM and SSD, which is very good for the performance of the system. Memory cards, alas, no at all.
Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G adequate model, gives good performance. In synthetic tests, the device manifests itself like this.
In life, the model has proven itself well, and if you do not play heavy games at maximum settings, then the device will not warm up at all, it copes with all the tasks with a bang.
Communication capabilities
Support for 5G means that the device in the corresponding networks can produce maximum speeds. In Russia, it can be connected to the test zones of operators, it will work in them.
Also on board there is Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, supports NFC. About navigation I can not say anything bad, the device well determines your location, there are no errors here.
Camera
The emphasis is on the fact that the main module from Sony is used, which gives a slightly better night shooting than usual. But from the main module of the camera I had a strange impression, it is typical for the middle segment. There are both HDR and AI, they noticeably repaint the pictures. Street mode is an additional shooting mode in which the camera applies additional filters.
Ai Color Portrait mode looks impressive, allowing you to select shades of red, blue or green when shooting video, during video recording, you can take photos. In general, there are a lot of modes for photo and video shooting, whether it is recording on two cameras at the same time, the “Movie” mode with professional settings or shooting the starry sky with a high shutter speed. There is a place to turn around, and the camera software helps to quickly understand everything.
The main lens is accompanied by an average “ultrashirik” with stable operation and adjusted dynamic range. Optional two-megapixel sensor for macro photography, it is very simple.
Still used one front camera, the quality of the pictures is normal.
Software
Inside Android 11, on top is realme UI 2.0. Quite a pleasant interface, it does not have special delights, but you can use it with comfort, although in some places it is overloaded. Look at the examples of the interface.
Impressions
The quality of communication is at a good level (hello, radio part from Qualcomm), the call is loud and bright, the vibra is average. At a cost of US $417 for the basic version of 6/128 GB, this is a strong model of the middle segment, it acts as a competitor for a number of devices, for example, the same Galaxy A52.
On the side of the Galaxy A52 water protection, the screen is noticeably brighter in most modes, the shell looks more interesting, there is support for memory cards. But the basic version has only 4 GB of RAM, charging is not as powerful. At the same time, the cost is 69-83 US dollar higher! In my opinion, the Samsung brand, of course, plays a role, but in general, realme looks against its background more than an adequate offer.
For about the same money you can buy Poco F3, this device has stereo speakers, water protection IP53, memory card. But the fingerprint sensor in the side key, the design is calmer, but the processor is slightly faster. Prices are comparable.
You can list a dozen more models that are present in this price range, but I took two poles. On the one hand, this is a bestseller from Samsung, on the other hand , Poco from Xiaomi. In my opinion, the Realme GT Master Edition looks good against their background, it is a balanced model with a good price/quality ratio.
Not the most perfect screen, but it’s good for the money. Perhaps the lack of stereo speakers is the most serious disadvantage that can be mentioned for this model. Otherwise, it justifies its price one hundred percent.
